On the Pod:

Wes Mitchell on how South Carolina fans are feeling heading into this week: I mean, frustrated, frankly, is probably the word that comes to mind. Like, you know, they played pretty well against Kentucky. They looked a little bit more like the team we thought they would be on paper coming into this season. But I mean, you know, you’ve got to remember, like this is a South Carolina team, especially here locally, there were very high expectations coming into this. Nine wins in the regular season last year. They were really a couple of plays away, they felt like, from being in the college football playoff =. I think the way they were playing at the end of last year, South Carolina fans and probably the coaches, too, were even saying we could beat maybe half these teams that did make the college football playoff.

So, you know, you bring the LaNorris Sellers back. You bring Dylan Stewart back. You have to put a lot of pieces together around them that they lost to the NFL. And you know, I think there was always kind of that talk of Hey, will they be able to quickly replace all those guys? But even with that said, you look around the league, you look around college football, everybody had some level of question for their team. I don’t think there’s a perfect roster coming into the year, so very high expectations. And, you know, frankly, to this point, and especially their offense, to be specific, just really has not lived up to the potential I think we all put on them coming into the year. You mentioned that potential, that promise, and LSU’s kind of in the same boat.
