The Bengal Tiger welcomes Bryce Koon to the LSU team!
The Bengal Tiger staff continues to grow and bring you the latest LSU news, scoop and opinions. To start the month of August, we are thrilled to announce the addition of Bryce Koon, a longtime writer and personality in college athletics and a budding star on the LSU beat.
Here’s Bryce’s thoughts on joining the site and what to expect from him moving forward:
Bryce Koon on making the move to On3
It’s been a weird month. For the first time time in eight years, I was able to take a step back and away from the day-to-day grind of covering college athletics. Honestly though, there was some peace in it. Spending time with my one-year-old daughter, Addie, and being able to sit down to dinner with my wife and enjoy a distraction-free meal was a good reset for me. It put a lot of things in perspective to be honest. However, my wife quickly noticed my itch to get back into that rhythm. We moved down to Baton Rouge two years ago for this very reason, in fact. Without that what were we doing? It wasn’t long though, eventually the conversations started to pick up and I’m now officially able to say that my name is Bryce Koon and I’m joining On3 and the Bengal Tiger.
Originally from Georgia, my wife, Hillary, and I picked up our lives after just a year of marriage and made the move to chase my dream of covering college athletics full time. I took a role with 247Sports to cover all things LSU and was excited to jump in. The past two years there were wonderful and that community will always be a big part of my story. Now, with a one-year-old and just passing our third anniversary; we are keeping our young family here and around the LSU, Baton Rouge community. I couldn’t be more pumped.
Before moving down to Louisiana, I was a “jack-of-all trades” person in the Atlanta market. I covered Georgia Tech football for five years, while also serving as a play-by-play broadcaster for the baseball team for two years. I would freelance as a broadcaster on multiple ESPN platforms including the ACCN across the southeast, as well as being in the radio team for the Mercer Bears out of the Southern Conference. I’ve also been the owner/host of my own college football podcast “The Crowded Booth” and will continue to cover this amazing sport over there as well.
Essentially, I did anything and everything to try and build a resume. Those opportunities and relationships were all important in getting me where I am today and I still hold those dearly.

So what can you expect from me here? Well, my “big three” is football, recruiting and baseball. I love it. I’m excited add analysis alongside the talent on this site as we enter an important 2025 campaign for the Tigers. On the recruiting front, I like to say that I’m a bit of a sicko. This is how I got my start and I think covering recruiting is one of the best things you can provide. From the initial offer all the way up to signing day, I will deliver consistent coverage and updates as well as my version of insider notes “Bryce’s Biscuits”. You have to love recruiting and I can honestly say I do. In terms of baseball, I’m excited to take this on and create this coverage as my own. It’s something that I’ve talked with Shea and Brune both about and I’m pumped about the opportunity to spearhead the Bengal Tiger’s baseball coverage.
Lastly, we are revamping the podcast content for The Bengal Tiger. I’ve got something big ideas and I’m excited to unveil those in the next few weeks. We will be consistent and informative, but also have a good time. I’ve got an idea or too to take this show on the road and make it interactive with our subscribers as well. Stay tuned there.
I’m pumped to be here and add to what is already a top-notch staff. It’s an honor to join these fellas and this amazing community, I don’t take that opportunity lightly. Let’s get after it and have some fun along the way!
