BREAKING: Miami Hurricanes add top-200 WR Tyran Evans for 4th 2026 commitment of week

Miami continued its recruiting surge this week by adding four-star 2026 receiver Tyran Evans, the No. 199 overall prospect and No. 29 overall prospect in the On300, for its fourth 2026 commitment of the week and fifth total pledge in the last four days (2027 four-star safety Jaylyn Jones also committed Monday evening).
Evans’ commitment gives the Hurricanes two top-200 receivers in the On300 after four-star wideout Vance Spafford pulled the trigger Monday and 18th commit of the cycle, which figures to help cement Miami’s current No. 7 team recruiting ranking. Twelve of Miami’s commits are currently listed as four-star recruits in either the On300 or On3 Industry Ranking following Evans’ pledge.
Evans was previously committed to Tennessee but decommitted from the Volunteers earlier this month shortly after his official visit to Miami. The Hurricanes were already viewed as the biggest threat to the Volunteers and immediately began trending for the 6-foot-4, 200-pound prospect, who climbed significantly on the team’s receiver board this spring, and quickly received multiple RPMs to The U.
Miami quietly hosted Evans for an unofficial visit in April while he was still committed to the Volunteers and slowly started gaining ground before the Hurricanes began trending for him in June. Miami fell in love with his large, physical frame (think a stronger version of top-50 Miami receiver signee Joshua Moore last year) and productive junior season. Evans hauled in 36 passes for 980 yards and 14 touchdowns last fall and averaged a whopping 27.2 yards per catch which attracted both Miami’s staff and the On3 Scouting and Rankings department, who listed him as an On3 outlier earlier this spring.

His commitment gives the Hurricanes another large, physical frame on the perimeter consistent with what Miami has sought in X and Z receivers the last two cycles, although Miami isn’t done recruiting the position in this class. The Hurricanes still covet local four-star slot Jasen Lopez, are hellbent on landing five-star top-10 prospect Tristen Keys and local top-50 four-star receiver Calvin Russell and speedster Brayden Robinson, among others.
CaneSport’s Take
Miami would like to add at least one more receiver in this class (possibly two), but landing Spafford and Evans already has the Hurricanes in an excellent position moving forward. Miami fans should be ecstatic about the team’s current recruiting momentum.
