BREAKING: Miami lands DL Anthony Kennedy for 5th 4-star commit of week

Little Rock (Ark.) Central four-star 2026 defensive tackle Anthony Kennedy committed to Miami Friday evening to give the Hurricanes their fifth four-star commit of the week. EDGE Asharri Charles, receiver Vance Spafford, tight end Israel Briggs and receiver Tyran Evans committed Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
Kennedy’s commitment gives the Hurricanes 19 commits in their current class, 13 of which are listed as four-star players in either the On300 or On3 Industry Ranking. The No. 383 overall prospect and No. 36 defensive lineman is also Miami’s second interior defensive lineman taken so far this class along with coveted three-star prospect Tyson Bacon, who committed in mid-June following his official visit. The 6-foot-5, 330-pound tackle committed to Miami over SMU and Missouri, who he decommitted from earlier this spring.
Kennedy remained publicly high on Miami following his official visit to Coral Gables May 30 and said he could “see myself playing here for the next three to four years.”
“I loved it and I enjoyed myself,” Kennedy said after his official visit. “Miami is definitely a school I’m interested in. I just talked to my dad yesterday, and I asked him if I came this far, would he move down here with me—and he said he would. I feel great about Miami.”

His commitment helps the Hurricanes add to their No. 7 class in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and gives Miami a reasonable shot to crack the top 5 for the second time in the last three recruiting cycles. Miami is within a point of Ohio State in the team Rankings Score and could add more top-end talent next month like top-50 running back Derrek Cooper, four-star cornerback Brody Jennings and three-star ATH/TE Zachery Turner, among others.
CaneSport’s Take
This has been an amazing summer recruiting tear for the Canes, who have a real shot at another top-five class if they’re able to close on a few guys during the fall. Miami has a remarkable amount of recruiting momentum right now.
