CaneSport Message Board Mania: Hurricanes Fans React to Miami’s Betting Line vs. USF

Everyone knows the expression “put your money where your mouth is.” And at this point we’re pretty sure it was invented by SuperCane message board poster CaneGang88. Because not only has he achieved “SuperCane” status from On3, prominently displayed under his username on the message board, but he’s also received 1,442 thumbs ups on his threads. We assume he got at least 1,441 of those from his recent thread posted under the header “Miami Opens As 18.5 Favorites vs. USF.”

Now, we know what you’re thinking. A guy who is a “SuperCane” must go in-depth with his take, breaking down the line, showing how both teams match up with each other and sharing his thoughts on if you should take the points or not.

So yeah, this particular writer opened his thread with plenty of anticipation.

So what did CaneGang88 the SuperCane come up with? Does he believe Corey Hetherman’s defense can slow down running QB Byrum Brown? Is UF really bad, which would perhaps not reflect that well on the Bulls? Are the Canes as good as we think they are, or is it still too soon to know considering Miami’s only played one “real” game?

Tell us, Mr. Gang.

The thread is clicked.

It opens.

And…

Wait for it…

The “SuperCane” has taken a screenshot of the 18.5-point betting line and the over/under. No sign of where he found it, if he created it, or if it was his child’s homeroom project.

But wait!

Underneath the screen shot is a clear, concise message.

“NM,” the SuperCane poster writes.

We assume this stands for “No Money,” as in a recommendation not to bet.

We will heed that.

For some reason, a lot of other message board posters with major gambling problems responded despite already being told to bet No Money on the game.

EDALAW.13, who is listed as a lowly “All-Conference” poster, writes “That won’t last. Get in now.”

Beatles_1 appears ready to root for his pocketbook vs. the Canes winning in a blowout, saying “I think we win by 14. That line is massive.”

Gary Ferman, aka CaneSport’s publisher, wrote “I just placed $300,000 on the Canes to win. If they don’t cover I’m firing Matt Shodell.”

Okay, we may have made that one up.
