The Miami Hurricanes will open the 2022-2023 Men’s Basketball season unranked in the AP top 25 poll. Miami won their most games since the 2015-16 campaign last season and reached their first ever Elite Eight in program history.

This is the fifth straight season that Miami has been unranked to open the season. Miami received 66 votes, the third most amongst unranked teams behind Texas A&M and UConn.

Three ACC teams are ranked to start the season, including North Carolina at No. 1, Duke at No. 7, and Virginia at No. 18

The Hurricanes (26-11, 14-5 ACC) received votes in three different AP Top 25 polls last season, but never entered the Top 25. UM picked up ranked wins over No. 2 Duke and No. 25 Wake Forest during the regular season before knocking off ranked opponents USC and Auburn in the NCAA Tournament.

Miami returns fourth year-junior guard Isaiah Wong, who averaged over 17 points per game last season. Wong was named to the 2022 Third Team All-ACC after being named Preseason First Team All-ACC last October. Miami also returns Jordan Miller for his fifth year of eligibility, after he averaged over 10 points and five rebounds per game in his first season as a Hurricane.

The Hurricanes open their regular season on Monday, November 7 against the Lafayette Leopards (10-20, 7-11 Patriot League) at the Watsco Center.
