Former Cal wide receiver Jonathan Brady has entered the transfer portal, and the Miami Hurricanes could be in play for the former ACC pass catcher. According to On3’s Pete Nakos, a visit to Miami is currently in the works between Brady and the Hurricanes.

“Miami is expected to be a big player for Cal transfer Jonathan Brady,” Nakos wrote. “The former New Mexico State transfer has 98 career catches for 1,317 yards and 10 touchdowns. He’s currently expected to visit the Hurricanes this week.”

In his lone season with the Golden Bears, Brady recorded 36 receptions for 386 yards and three touchdowns.

Before his time at Cal, Brady spent two seasons with the New Mexico State Aggies, where he emerged as a legitimate offensive threat at receiver. Over that span, he caught 61 passes for 934 yards and seven touchdowns. He also logged 18 carries for 112 yards and a touchdown. In the return game, Brady averaged 8.5 yards per punt return and 18.6 yards per kick return.

Heading into the spring transfer portal window, it was expected that Miami would be in the market for at least one or two wide receivers. So far, the Hurricanes have added former BYU WR/KR Keelan Marion and could look to bring in another, with Brady being a name to watch. If he makes it to Miami for a visit this week, it would be a strong indication of where things stand between the two sides.

According to Pro Football Focus, Brady took the majority of his snaps as an outside receiver, with 456 reps out wide and 30 in the slot. He finished the 2024 season with a 62.4 offensive grade and a 62.0 receiving grade.

Prior to enrolling at New Mexico State, Brady was a three-star prospect and the No. 2,081 overall recruit in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Industry Composite.

He was also ranked as the No. 275 wide receiver in his class and the No. 19 overall player from the state of Nevada, hailing from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas.
