First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

We continue our annual series breaking down the top 50 players on the current roster, and today we take a look at No. 40, Dylan Day, and why he could have an impact at the revamped safety position.

In other team news, we break down the Hurricanes’ new-look defense under coordinator Corey Hetherman and the top 10 defensive stars set to lead Miami’s defensive rebuild.

On the recruiting front, we check in with Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna four-star running back Derrek Cooper, a top priority for the Hurricanes. Cooper took his first official visit to Auburn last weekend, and Miami will have to fight tooth and nail to keep the 2026 prospect home. He shares the latest.

Another priority target for Miami in the 2026 class is Port Orange (Fla.) Spruce Creek three-star defensive tackle Freddie Wilson. Since the start of the new year, the Hurricanes have made multiple visits to see the defensive lineman, who is extremely high on Miami.

In the 2027 class, the Canes recently offered Iowa City (Iowa) Regina three-star running back Savion Miller, who called his Miami offer a dream come true.
