WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

First off, stay tuned early this afternoon as we’ll have feedback from the Miami baseball team heading into Super Regionals.

We’ve got your latest CaneSport Roundtable with our staff breaking down if Miami’s opener against Notre Dame is a must-win game for Mario Cristobal … and why or why not. So be sure to check that out.

Another update: ESPN released its latest college football rankings earlier this week and the Hurricanes came in at No. 9. The Canes were given an FPI index of 17.5, a masurement of the team’s true strength on net points scale, expected points margin vs. an average opponent on a neutral field. For comparison sake, top-ranked Texas has a 28.5 FPI. We take a closer look.

And we continue our annual series breaking down the top 50 players on the current roster. As we go along on this list you’ll get an idea of the overall depth of talent on Mario Cristobal’s team this year as he seeks to build on a season that was oh-so-close to a playoff berth. We are at No. 26 today.

There’s also on3″s J.D. PicKell sharing his thoughts on QB Carson Beck … and he’s very high on Beck’s potential at Miami.

In recruiting?

There’s no denying the role Miami secondary coach Will Harris has played in attracting Winter Garden (Fla.) The First Academy four-star 2026 safety Devin Jackson to Coral Gables. And now Jackson is set for a key OV this weekend to UM. We have your update.

Another weekend visitor we catch up with to preview his visit: Red Oak (Tx.) four-star 2026 receiver Brayden Robinson.

Plus Miami was initially on the outside looking in on Buford (Ga.) four-star EDGE/defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright’s recruitment this spring, but the Hurricanes have made substantial progress for the No. 34 overall prospect and No. 5 EDGE in this year’s class heading into his official visit to Coral Gables this weekend. Get his thoughts heading into it.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

“I’ve been to (these schools) multiple times, so what I really look forward to with these next couple of official visits is if this is a place that’s going to develop me as a young man, a person, education-wise? Is this a place I can give loyalty both there and back to me? Is this a place I can always come back to and feel like this is home for the rest of my life.”
