WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

It starts with our column on QB Emory Williams, with a closer look inside his decision to stay with other options out there. Maybe despite the horrendous bowl game performance fans should give him a little bit of a break?

Our game by game previews resume as we take in-depth looks at what Miami will be facing. So you can go ahead and check out what Miami is facing in a rivalry Game 5 matchup vs. Florida State. The Seminoles can’t be as bad as last year, right? Find out about that challenge.

We also are continue our July Player Performance Index series looking at the 30 most impactful players for the coming season. In this series we focus in on how productive we think each Miami player will be this coming season. Today we’re at No. 23 Jakobe Thomas. Miami’s relying on him to step up, but he couldn’t earn the starter role at Tennessee so is there room for concern?

In recruiting there was of course the commitment last night from 2027 OT Zaquan Linton you can read all about, including what he and his coach are saying.

And don’t miss our update with 4-star S Cortez Redding, who has a decision upcoming later this month.

Plus we check in on our RPMs with decisions upcoming.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

I do not think Mario get enough credit … Posted by PH1LLY

I see a lot of folks whining about us not getting this kid or that kid. But I do not think folks are considering who we are going up against and our recent history. Take for example UGA. Kirby is considered, arguably, the best HC in football since Saban retired. They are considered the best program in college now, arguably. They have 2 national titles within the last 5 yrs as well as 2 conference titles in same time span. They are almost always in the playoffs. Conversely we have not been in the ACC game since 2017. Have no ACC championships nor national titles. Had our best season since 2017 last year and yet we are WINNING head to head recruiting battles against UGA.

Now I will be the 1st to say. Recruiting has changed. It’s not all about winning and being developed but considering we landed Jackson. To me that battle goes beyond money. I truly believe this was about development and relationships. Money is there too but he could have gotten the same if not more from UGA and or Oregon. 2 programs that not only have money but have had much more recent success. Miami won that battle and won plenty more.

I think folks should take the time to give Mario his flowers.

“I just want to see the program I’d be most comfortable at, like which one would I be the most comfortable outside of football. Where can I see myself living at? How can I be comfortable outside of football? Do I see myself living there?”
