The Edge

Playoff game week is here! With the Miami Hurricanes set to face off at Texas A&M on Saturday at noon, we figured there’s no better time to share our position by position edge for some insight into where things stand as we head into the week.

How Miami Hurricanes DB Zechariah Poyser Bet on Himself and Won

We take a look inside what makes Miami standout safety Zechariah Poyser tick … and fare so well for the Canes on the field.

Also stay tuned this afternoon as we’ll be hearing from coach Mario Cristobal and coordinators Shannon Dawson and Corey Hetherman as they discuss the challenge of the opening playoff game at Texas A&M and more.

Live from the crib

When Javian Mallory arrived at West Boca (Fla.) four years ago, the Bulls were coming off a disappointing 1-9 season, failing to rise alongside other emerging programs in the West Palm region. Since then, West Boca has drastically improved and is now the winner of consecutive state championships after defeating West Broward, 31-0, on Friday afternoon at FIU. We caught up with Mallory afterward.

Another Live From The Crib feature: Orlando (Fla.) Jones four-star 2026 Miami quarterback signee Dereon Coleman’s senior season didn’t have the storybook ending he hoped for after coming up short against Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage in the state championship game for the second-straight year. But he still nearly pulled off the incredible. Find out about that.

Inside Timo Malovec’s rise: Miami freshman thriving

The professional nature of college basketball is something that Miami Hurricanes freshman forward Timo Malovec is used to. And he’s thriving. We take a closer look.

We also have your hoops update off the win over ULM over the weekend to check out.

Miami Hurricanes an early frontrunner for Ramsier

Orlando (Fla.) The First Academy four-star 2027 interior offensive lineman Reed Ramsier included Miami in his top five along with Texas, Georgia, Alabama and Ohio State last month and named Alabama and Ohio State his two leaders. But now, he’d include the Hurricanes as a frontrunner too.

Another update: Miami is continuing its aggressive push for Boca Raton (Fla.) West Boca 2027 top-100 defensive tackle Jamar Thompson, but the Hurricanes are facing plenty of competition for the four-star priority in next year’s cycle.

We also catch up with Houston (Tx.) South Houston four-star 2027 defensive lineman Xavier Muhammad. He visited Miami for the first time in late August for the Hurricanes’ game against Notre Dame. This spring, he wants to get back to campus.
