Gary Ferman: CFP got it right in the end
CaneSport publisher Gary Ferman takes a look at all the craziness of the CFP rankings … and how in the end they got it right. So don’t miss his column.
Playoffs, here we come! How it all happened and what Miami’s up against now
The Miami Hurricanes entered the weekend on the outside looking in for the playoffs ranked No. 12 … and needing to get to at least No. 10. And it happened! We have the breakdown of the big news. We also have your feedback from the CFP Committee on how it all went down. Oh, and there’s your preview of Miami’s first round opponent Texas A&M as well to check out plus what coach Mario Cristobal had to say about it all and what Aggies coach Mike Elko had to say.
Also we had more from Cristobal this morning.
CaneSport Live PLAYOFF EDITION Was … Epic
Greg was legendary, Gary made great points and Matt was annoying. Yes, CaneSport Live was live last night with fans and the CaneSport staff talking all things Hurricanes. You can still tune in today as Miami gears up for THE PLAYOFFS!!!
Grading the signees … and looking at immediate impact additions
It’s unrealistic to think each of the 30 players Miami signed in its 2026 class Wednesday will have an immediate impact for the Hurricanes next year as true freshmen, but considering the number of first-year players we saw have an instant impact for Miami this year, the current talent level of some signees and the expected depth chart at different positions heading into next season, there’s a few prospects we fully believe can or will make an immediate impact next fall. We break that down.
We also grade the offensive signing class … and defensive signing class … and yes, there were quite a few A’s.
With this recruiting cycle in the rearview mirror, it’s fair to take a way-too-early look at which in-state targets Hurricanes fans should keep an eye on in the 2027 cycle. We do just that.
Plus there was our Live From The Crib feature over the weekend. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) took care of business in its state semifinal matchup against Riverdale (Fla.), winning 45-13. The Raiders’ commanding victory was thanks in part to contributions from several top prospects whom we expect the Miami Hurricanes to make a run for in the 2027 cycle. We break that down.
Looking back at anecdotes and storylines from Miami’s 2026 class
Now that we’re finished with Miami’s 2026 signing day class, we wanted to take a look back at some anecdotes and drama from this year’s cycle as we empty our recruiting notebooks. So we’ll share that this morning.

Takeaways from Hoops 88-64 win over Southern Miss
As suggested by the early noon tip-off, Miami men’s basketball played a sluggish first half against Southern Miss. The score was tied at 34 apiece at halftime, as Jai Lucas’ team lethargically headed back to the home locker room after the slow start to the game. The Hurricanes came out firing in the second half and quickly built a double-digit lead. Miami cruised from that point on, winning 88-64. We break down the win, including team feedback.
