Film Room Study: What Makes Rueben Bain So Special

The headlines involving Rueben Bain in recent weeks range from speculation he could enter the Heisman Trophy race to projections he will go in the NFL Draft’s top two or three picks. With all that outside noise swirling, those that know Bain best will tell you his focus is simple: Working hard and getting better. And that’s really scare when you turn on his tape and see the level at which he’s already playing.
Inside Miami’s offense and defense … what we’ve learned
Matt Shodell takes a deep dive into what we’ve learned on offense and defense so far this season as Miami seeks to continue its perfect season off the bye weekend with a tough Louisville team coming up next. Which areas still have a lot of room to grow and which are playing at perhaps above expectations? We’ve got your big picture breakdown.
Stacking talent
We’ve got plenty of recruiting news for you today, including Miami coach visits from over the weekend and how Miami isn’t letting up in its pursuit of Orlando (Fla.) Lake Nona four-star LSU EDGE commit De’Anthony Lafayette … visiting him. We also feature Houston (Tx.) The Kinkaid School four-star 2027 running back Wayne Shanks, who got a visit from RB coach Matt Merritt.
There’s our Live From The Crib feature, coming to you from Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage’s 42-21 win over Miami (Fla.) Norland and focused on Cane targets.
Tampa (Fla.) Tampa Bay Tech three-star Miami interior offensive line commit Canon Pickett may be sidelined for the rest of his senior season with a torn MCL and PCL, but the 6-foot-4, 325-pound Hurricane pledge is still finding a way to make his presence felt despite not being on the field.
Lennard (Fla.) safety Mekhi Williams has been committed to Florida State since this past March, but that hasn’t stopped Miami from actively recruiting the four-star defensive back. Get the latest there.
Mineral City (Ohio) Tuscarawas Valley four-star 2026 offensive tackle Ben Congdon is as all-Miami as he could be. His thoughts?
Little Rock (Ark.) Little Rock Central four-star defensive tackle Anthony Kennedy has typically been a quiet personality. But this fall, Little Rock Central head coach Anthony Robinson has noticed a change in the 6-foot-4, 300-pound Miami commit’s demeanor. We’ve got your coach’s take.

Hoover (Ala.) three-star defensive lineman and 2026 Miami commit Tyson Bacon has continued to receive interest from programs like Florida, Auburn and Alabama. Find out where things stand here.
We also update a new offer that went out to Downingtown East (Pa.) EDGE Abraham Sesay. He’s excited about what UM has done this season and the opportunity.
Oh, and if 2028 recruiting is your thing … well it’s Miami’s too! Tons of offers are going out now in that class, a lot just in the past week.
Reneau ready to step up in Year 1 of Lucas era

Indiana transfer forward Malik Reneau was Jai Lucas’ first offseason addition upon becoming Miami’s head coach, and for good reason. Reneau, who led the 2024–25 Hoosiers in scoring, was regarded as one of the best forwards in the portal. A smooth lefty with a soft touch around the basket, he’s considered to be one of the key players on Lucas’ first Hurricanes roster. We catch up with him for his thoughts with the season approaching quickly.
