The Miami Hurricanes are gearing up for a big challenge against Louisville on Friday night – arguably the most difficult matchup remaining for UM, which is ranked No. 2 at 5-0. And we’ve got coaches Mario Cristobal, Shannon Dawson and Corey Hetherman all sharing their perspective heading into it off a bye week. So don’t miss all of that.

As the Miami Hurricanes zero in on Louisville, and in particular its innovative offense led by Jeff Brohm, perhaps one area in particular pops up on the Cane radar: Interceptions. Because Miller Moss threw nine of them last year in his first starting role at USC, and he’s already thrown four of them in five games this season, earning the ire of Cardinal fans. We take a closer look at the Moss challenge and how Miami can perhaps take advantage of his mistakes.

McKeesport (Pa.) five-star 2027 running back Kemon Spell made headlines this weekend by first announcing he was not firmly locked into his Penn State commitment and then decommitting from the Nittany Lions following head coach James Franklin’s firing. Now? He told CaneSport that Miami is in the mix following his decommitment and is interested in visiting South Florida this fall.

More recruiting updates for you:

Miami has made a clear concerted effort to develop a pipeline between Coral Gables and Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin under head coach Mario Cristobal by recruiting players like 2024 offensive line signee Deryc Plazz, pursing 2025 players like safety Hylton Stubbs and receiver Jaime Ffrench and flipping 2026 cornerback Brody Jennings from Michigan, so Mandarin head coach Toby Bullock has an idea of what the Hurricanes need do to help his players succeed at the next level. We get a closer look from Bullock on Jennings and what he brings for the Canes.

Miami also is pushing to get the No. 1 quarterback in the 2027 cycle to The U for a visit this fall, CaneSport has learned. Don’t miss that update.

Another update: Hurricanes defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman spent several hours at Louisville (Ky.) St. Xavier last Friday seeing four-star 2026 Louisville linebacker commit Karsten Busch, who received a Miami offer roughly two weeks ago and has quickly emerged as one of the Hurricanes’ top new flip targets. Find out what Busch has to say.

Also in the news for you this a.m. – Miami and Texas are separating slightly from the pack for Grayson (Ga.) Brookwood four-star running back Brayden Tyson, who the Canes have made an extremely aggressive effort for early. Tyson attended Miami’s season opener against Notre Dame and is working to lock in a return trip to South Florida next weekend for the Hurricanes’ game against Stanford.
