CaneSport Live Was … Epic
Greg was legendary, Gary made great points and Matt was annoying. Yes, CaneSport Live was live last night with fans and the CaneSport staff talking all things Hurricanes. You can still tune in today as Miami gears up for its game against Louisville.
Kiper puts only 4 Canes in his first Big Board of 130 players
ESPN NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper isn’t quite buying the Miami Hurricanes in the NFL Draft hype looking toward the 2026 draft, as Kiper released his first draft Big Board today and only included four UM players in his list of 130 players. We take a closer look, including where opponents so far and other teams stack up. And speaking of the NFL, you can check out the stats and highlights of this week’s Pro Canes on the site.
Player Chatter
We spoke with Carson Beck, Mark Fletcher and DL Rueben Bain and Akheem Mesidor yesterday as they discussed the challenge of facing a Louisville team that’s ranked highly in both offense and defense. Coming off a bye this Miami team needs to be ready to play its best game on Saturday, and these players know that. Don’t miss what they were talking about.
Deep dive into the Louisville challenge
The Miami Hurricanes vanquished the first five teams on the schedule, including pretty good Notre Dame, Florida, Florida State and USF teams. And this weekend the Canes are probably facing what could be termed “the best of the rest.” Because as you go down the list of the remaining opponents, it’s probably Louisville that is best stocked with talent to cause issues for Miami on both sides of the ball.
Nation’s No. 2 RB set to visit for Louisville game

Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna four-star 2026 Texas running back commit Derrek Cooper, the No. 38 overall prospect and No. 2 running back in the Rivals Industry Ranking, will visit Miami Friday for the Hurricanes’ game against Louisville, he confirmed to CaneSport. Miami is continuing to make an all-hands-on-deck effort for the four-star back and took advantage of the chance to get him back to Hard Rock during Chaminade’s bye week.
More recruiting news for you:
Akron (Ohio) Walsh Jesuit four-star 2026 receiver Milan Parris has quickly emerged as one of Miami’s top new wideout targets in the cycle, and next week he’ll visit South Florida for the first time.
Bear (De.) Caravel Academy three-star defensive lineman Isaac “Chuk” Chukwurah is still committed to Penn State following head coach James Franklin’s dismissal … but decided to reopen his recruitment. Miami didn’t hesitate to get involved. Find out about that.

Miami (Fla.) Norland four-star cornerback and Hurricanes commit Kenton Dopson has reclassified from the 2027 recruiting class to 2026, putting him on track to sign with the Canes Dec. 3, and the Rivals’ rankings staff is still exceptionally high on the 6-foot, 185-pound defensive back. Rivals Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power breaks down why he remained as a top-100 prospect.
Miami hoops picked by media to finish 8th in ACC
The Miami Hurricanes basketball team finished last year with a woeful 7-24 record, going 3-17 in ACC play. There should be a nice move up this year in Jai Lucas’ first year. At least that’s according to the media poll off conference media day. The results were released, and Miami was picked to finish 8th in the conference. Duke was voted the preseason favorite (the Blue Devils are ranked No. 6 nationally in the preseason Associated Press poll). The media panelists selected NC State senior forward Darrion Williams as the ACC Preseason Player of the Year, while Duke’s Cameron Boozer was chosen as ACC Preseason Rookie of the Year.
