BREAKING: Miami flips 4-star DL Keshawn Stancil from Clemson

Miami pulled off its biggest surprise of the 2026 recruiting cycle yet.
The Hurricanes turned heads by flipping Clayton (N.C.) 6-foot-3, 260-pound defensive lineman Keshawn Stancil from Clemson in a move few saw coming before the last few days. Stancil committed to Clemson over Miami, Georgia, Penn State and NC State in late June, but Miami remained quietly involved with the No. 120 overall prospect and No. 10 defensive lineman. The four-star recruit silently flipped to Miami Tuesday evening but chose to hold off on the announcement until Wednesday.
“I’ve always liked the coaches at Miami,” Stancil told CaneSport. “Being down there multiple times just feeling at home, but Clemson also felt like home so I made a hard decision and I chose Clemson, but things happen and I’m a Miami Hurricane. No disrespect to Clemson either. Clemson’s a great school. I still love the Clemson staff, still love everybody over there.”
Stancil last saw the team’s staff in person May 30 during his official visit but kept in touch with executive director of player personnel Trip Carrico over the last few months before things significantly picked up in the last 10 days. He informed Clemson’s staff Tuesday night of his intention to flip to Miami.

“Great coaching, great culture (at The U),” Stancil said. “Really a lot of hospitality when I when I went down there and the coaches at Miami are real. No disrespect to Clemson because a lot of them were real as well, but Miami is real as well too.”
Stancil said he’s ready to be a Cane.
“I’m very excited,” Stancil said. “I’m very hyped up about this career that’s ahead of me.”
CaneSport’s Take
Stancil is Miami’s second commit in two days after the Hurricanes landed four-star receiver Milan Parris over Oklahoma and Oregon Tuesday evening, although Miami isn’t finished adding to its 2026 class. Players like five-star EDGE Anthony Jones, four-star running back Derrek Cooper, four-star tight end Gavin Mueller and three-star tight end Luke Brewer, four-star defensive linemen Nolan Wilson and Bryce Perry-Wright, four-star EDGE DeAnthony Lafayette and four-star safety Blake Stewart remain among other top priorities for the Hurricanes.
