Miami guard signee Rhys Woodrow adds power to Hurricanes O-Line
Orlando (Fla.) Boone three-star interior offensive lineman Rhys Woodrow was unequivocally one of the best interior linemen in Florida the last two years and was arguably the best guard in the Orlando area this fall.
Wednesday, Miami signed the 6-foot-3.5, 310-pound lineman.
Woodrow signed with the Canes as one of six offensive linemen in its 2026 class joining No. 1 overall prospect Jackson Cantwell, four-star tackle Ben Congdon, four-star lineman Joel Ervin and three-star interior linemen JJ Sparks and Canon Pickett. Woodrow’s commitment to Miami in late May came somewhat out of the blue, but once he pulled the trigger, he fully shut down and locked in his pledge.
Boone head coach Andy Johnson called the No. 928 overall prospect and No. 86 interior lineman a “physical, rugged player.”
“We’re either running behind him or we’re running behind him,” Boone told CaneSport in mid-October. “We’re a big-time power/counter team so he’s either play side at the point of attack, double teaming the guy at the point of attack or he’s the kick-out guy on counter. He’s always kind of in the mix. We’re really running the ball efficiently. We’re averaging close to 300 (yards) a game on the ground and in our two biggest wins this year we were over 300 on the ground and both against good competition, and Rhys is part of that lynchpin that made it happen.”

Woodrow called head coach Mario Cristobal and offensive line coach Alex Mirabal the country’s two best offensive line coaches in the country multiple times and steadily built on his connection with the staff over the last six months. Mirabal stopped in Orlando to see him play during the Canes’ last bye week in October and kept him excited about signing with Miami.
Woodrow brings a raw strength and intense physicality to Miami consistent with what the Hurricanes have sought in offensive linemen in the Cristobal era, although he’s also proven himself as an elite pulling guard who understands how to use his weight and momentum to displace defenders at the point of attack.
He’s expected to enroll in January.
CaneSport’s Take
Woodrow enjoyed one of the more drama-free recruitments of anyone in Miami’s class and made clear he wanted to be in Coral Gables over the last half year. We get the sense he and his family will be celebrating this moment pretty thoroughly tonight and will enjoy the next month before he gets to campus.
