Miami Hurricanes sign 4-star WR Somourian Wingo, one of 2026 class’ biggest gems
St. Augustine (Fla.) four-star top-100 receiver Somourian Wingo is one of the gems of Miami’s 2026 signing class.
Wingo committed to Miami in mid-July over Florida and South Carolina and stayed largely solid with the Hurricanes until signing with Miami Wednesday. Florida made a brief in-season run at the No. 63 overall prospect and No. 10 receiver in the Rivals300 which included hosting him for the Gators’ September game against USF, but Wingo remained fully locked in with the Hurricanes and shut down his recruitment shortly after his visit to Gainesville.
The 6-foot-3, 180-pound receiver anticipated for some time his recruitment would come down to Miami and Florida, but in the end, the Hurricanes won out.
“Really just because the people there, everybody there showed me mad love from the beginning to the end,” Wingo told CaneSport after his commitment. “They never stopped recruiting me and they always showed me I was a top priority for them. …They just constantly talked to me on an everyday basis, every time I visited, just showing me that I’m a top priority, keeping me around the players so I can see what it’s like with them.”
Wingo took a multi-day unofficial visit to Miami during his spring break that significantly boosted the Hurricanes’ chances, although Florida kept swinging into the summer and at one point appeared to take the lead for the coveted star. Florida received several predictions to land Wingo in the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine before Miami’s resurgence in July.

Wingo’s recruiting ranking surged nearly 100 spots during Rivals’ mid-fall rankings update as a result of an incredible senior season. Wingo recorded 42 catches for 759 catches and 12 touchdowns in his 10-game regular season which included a 10-catch, 151-yard and two-touchdown game Sept. 26.
He rose to borderline five-star status in Rivals’ penultimate recruiting rankings update and should have a tremendous chance to finish as a five-star recruit in the final rankings update in January.
“I think he has the ability to kind of be a high-volume target X-receiver who could eventually develop into a No. 1-type receiver at the college level, so we feel like he’s a big get for Miami,” Rivals Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power said. “And I think when you look at adding a talent like Somourian Wingo into the receiver room that Miami’s building with freshman standouts like Joshua Moore and Malachi Toney, I think Hurricane fans should be super excited about adding him to the fold. He looks like a really strong eval and a steal for the Hurricanes.”
CaneSport’s Take
Miami is adding to an already promising young receiver room by signing Wingo, who we think could see the field as a true freshman. Wingo looked like a good evaluation for the Hurricanes when they landed him in July, but he’s turned into a great evaluation after his awesome senior season.
