Wayne (N.J.) DePaul Catholic three-star 2026 defensive lineman Logan Nagle’s Miami recruitment began quietly, but it ended with him signing with the Hurricanes Wednesday.

The No. 498 overall prospect and No. 55 defensive lineman in the Rivals Industry Ranking quietly received a strong push from Miami early this fall while still committed to Pitt, but once the secret was out the Hurricanes were pursuing him, Miami’s staff had no problem turning up the heat in an attention-grabbing way. The Canes emerged as the biggest challenger to the Panthers in September after Nagle secretly visited for Miami’s Week 3 game against South Florida, but Miami became the outright favorite after he publicly visited The U Nov. 8. He flipped to the Canes the following week.

“I feel like Miami offered me a great opportunity to learn from coach (Jason) Taylor and then play in coach (Corey) Hetherman’s defense,” Nagle told CaneSport Nov. 29. “It feels like that was an unbelievable opportunity. And then with the seniors they’re losing this year and the quality of those seniors, a lot of them being draft picks, I think it’s one of the better opportunities in college football. I think it was one I couldn’t pass up.”

The 6-foot-4, 280-pound tackle is the No. 44 defensive lineman in Rivals’ rankings and has an 89 player grade, which leaves him a point away from being listed as a four-star recruit. DePaul Catholic head coach Nick Campanile told CaneSport he sees Nagle as a three-technique who will weigh 300 pounds “before you know it.”

Nagle’s great combination of power and flexibility, combined with surprising speed for his huge frame, indicates he’ll be more than capable once he refines his skillset and has an offseason to develop. He’s expected to be an early enrollee and will arrive in January.

Nagle’s head coach hasn’t had reservations he’ll be able to succeed at the next level.

“Obviously Miami’s got a tremendous staff and he’ll learn a lot from Jason Taylor down there,” DePaul Catholic head coach Nick Campanile told CaneSport Nov. 13. “I know he’s excited about that and excited about the entire coaching staff and coach (Mario) Cristobal. Logan is a very coachable guy. He’s going to take the coaching and continue to develop. He’s going to do a great job in the weight room. He’s very serious about what he puts in his body so he’s going to take great care of himself. He’s going to put the right weight on and he’s going to be ready to play sooner than later.”

CaneSport’s Take

Nagle checks all of the boxes schools look for in defensive linemen and has shown a number of traits that suggest he could have a massive impact in a place like Miami.
