Michigan State received a new commitment from class of 2026 defensive back Eliyjah Caldwell-Hardy fresh off an official visit as he spent the weekend of June 6 in East Lansing. He announced his commitment via social media.

It was the first visit to campus for the Florida defensive back. He was offered by safeties coach James Adams in mid-May. UCLA, Tulane, and others offered in the spring as well. He is not yet ranked by the 2026 On3 Industry Rankings.

“I sent (Adams) my film via Twitter, and they loved it,” Caldwell-Hardy told SpartanMag.com of his initial Michigan State interest. “He said he liked the way I attack the ball, and also my athleticism.”

The pair have quickly began to build on their relationship following the offer. Adams has made a strong impression on the young defensive back so far through the multiple in-home visits and trip to campus.

“He is a great guy,” Caldwell-Hardy said of Adams. “I feel as if I can be myself around him, and after speaking with him I am sure he could help me grow as a player and as a young adult.”

Caldwell-Hardy becomes the eighth commitment in the Michigan State 2025 recruiting class, the first from the June 6 official visit weekend. The Spartans landed three commitments from the May 30 visit weekend thus far, as former Iowa State safety commit Brayden Thomas flipped his pledge to the Spartans, along with commitments from Colorado linebacker Braylon Hodge, and Georgia cornerback KJ Deriso.

The Spartan class also includes Sioux Falls (S.D.) Jefferson High School tight end Eddie Whiting, along with quarterback Kayd Coffman, of East Kentwood (Mich.) High School, offensive lineman Eli Bickel, of North Branch (Mich.) High School, and Mansfield (Ohio) Lexington High School tight end Joey Caudill.
