EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State added a late addition to its roster for the 2025 season by adding long snapper Aiden DeCorte via the transfer portal, DeCorte announced on Monday. Michigan State will be DeCorte’s third school in three years, spending his first season at Central Michigan in 2023 before transferring to Colorado last season.

In his first two seasons of college football, DeCorte did not see any game action for Central Michigan or Colorado. He has three years of eligibility remaining.

DeCorte will be a walk-on this season and will likely be used as a depth piece at the long-snapper position. Michigan State returns redshirt-senior long snapper Kaden Schickel for 2025. Schickel was the primary long snapper last season through the first eight games before suffering a season-ending injury against Michigan.

Michigan State had trouble with long snapping on both field goals and punts after Schickel’s injury. Jack Carson Wentz, who served as the back-up long snapper last year and filled in for Schickel after his injury, entered the transfer portal in the spring, giving the Spartans a need at the position.

SpartanMag projects Schickel as the starter for the Spartans, given his strong showing last year, prior to his injury. However, Michigan State’s only other long snapper for the 2025 season, prior to DeCorte’s commitment, was incoming freshman Jack Wills.

DeCorte’s decision to transfer to Michigan State will also bring him closer to his home town of Jackson, Mich. He is a graduate of Jackson High School. While at Jackson High School, DeCorte played center as well as long snapper for the Jackson Vikings.

“Thank you to everybody who’s supported me throughout this journey,” DeCorte said via X, “and to the Colorado coaching staff for helping guide me in this process.

“Most importantly, thank you to (Michigan State football general manager) Cole Moore and (Michigan State assistant special teams coordinator) Joe Begnal for believing in me and giving me this opportunity.”
