Former Michigan State soccer standout DeJuan Jones was named to the United States Men’s National Soccer Team’s (USMNT) Gold Cup roster on June 12. The 23-man roster will compete in the tournament’s group stages from Saturday through Tuesday, July 4.
Jones currently plays for Major League Soccer side New England Revolution. The left-back has made 117 appearances in five seasons with the Revs. The 25-year old has tallied six goals and 16 assists since being drafted 11th overall in the 2019 Major League Soccer Super Draft.
The East Lansing, Mich., native has received two previous call-ups to the United States Men’s National Soccer Team. Jones made his international debut in January 2023 against Serbia in a substitute role. He made his first international start three days later against Colombia.
Jones graduated from East Lansing High School before starting his college soccer career at Michigan State. He played in 76 matches during his time with the Spartans. Jones scored 16 goals and accumulated 14 assists in four seasons at Michigan State.
The USMNT Gold Cup roster is typically filled with U.S.-based players. Jones will compete with New York Red Bulls’ John Tolkin for the starting left-back role during the tournament.
