Michigan State came out of the first official weekend in June adding to their 2026 class with the addition of linebacker Braylon Hodge, of Englewood (CO) Cherry Creek High School. Hodge announced his commitment via social media after spending the weekend in East Lansing.

The Colorado linebacker was offered by Michigan State and defensive coordinator Joe Rossi back in mid-May. He quickly scheduled an official visit to East Lansing, which helped seal the deal.

Hodge (6-3, 212) is not yet ranked by the 2026 On3 Industry Rankings. He holds other offers from Iowa, Minnesota, Utah, and others. The linebacker was supposed to take official visits to Iowa, Utah, and Minnesota later in the month, deciding to shut things down following the Michigan State trip.

“We talked a lot about the program and how many linebackers he will be taking, and where (Rossi) sees me fitting in,” Hodge told SpartanMag.com at the time of the offer. “He told me he liked what he has seen and evaluated. (Rossi) let me know that they would be extending the offer. He likes my movement, speed, my size, and my athleticism.”

The linebacker tallied 50 total tackles, with four for a loss, and a sack in 12 games as a junior. Hodge also tallied an interception and is credited for two pass deflections in 2024 according to MaxPreps.

Hodge spent the weekend on campus with fellow Michigan State 2026 commitments in Sioux Falls (SD) Jefferson High School tight end Eddie Whiting, who was also on an official visit, along with in-state commitments, quarterback Kayd Coffman of East Kentwood, and offensive lineman Eli Bickel of North Branch. The Spartan class now holds five total commitments, also including Mansfield (OH) Lexington High School tight end Joey Caudill.

Michigan State and Rossi are set to host Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep Institute Charter High School linebacker Charles Besler on June 6. The Spartans are also set to host legacy linebacker target Adam Shaw, of Hillsdale (NJ) Pascack Valley on June 13.
