The four-star offensive tackle visited Michigan State for an official visit during the weekend of May 30, his second visit to East Lansing. The first visit came in the spring for a spring practice visit.
“Coach Michalczik, I have heard a lot of really great things about him,” Campbell previously told SpartanMag.com. “I have been told he’s one of, if not the best, offensive line coach in college football. That by itself is enough to get me to go see what they are about.”
The pair of visits was enough for the lineman to decide to join the Spartan class.
“One thing the coaches said all weekend was, ‘Make sure you have questions’,” Campbell told SpartanMag.com after the official visit. “When I sat down with coach Smith, I had no questions because all the questions I had were answered already. Coach Smith said that means they’re doing their job right.
“I had questions coming into the visit, but throughout the weekend, every single question I had was answered. Questions I didn’t need to ask, they already answered them. I was really impressed by them and coach Smith as well.”
His decision comes fresh off an official visit to Utah (June 6), as he cancelled a previously scheduled visit to Washington for June 13. Campbell holds other offers including Arizona, Arizona State, Auburn, Texas A&M, Stanford, Arkansas, UCLA, Nebraska, Kansas State, Wisconsin, and others.
Campbell (6-7, 280) is ranked a four-star, the No. 183 overall recruit in the 2026 On3 Industry Rankings. He is also ranked the No. 17 offensive tackle and the No. 1 recruit in Arizona by On3.
The offensive lineman has prototypical size for a Big Ten tackle, as he has grown up technically sound under the guidance of his father Steve Campbell, a former Arizona State quarterback and current head coach Williams Field High School.

“(Michalczik) just likes that I am nasty, kind of,” Campbell said. “I get the job done. I am really athletic, that is what he loves. Also, that I am smart too. I have the ability to learn from him and be developed into something bigger.”
Campbell becomes the fifth player to commit to Michigan State from the May 30 official visit weekend. He joins linebacker Braylon Hodge, of Englewood (Colo.) Cherry Creek High School, along with Fayetteville (GA) Whitewater High School cornerback Kelsey Deriso, Memphis (Tenn.) Whitehaven rush end Cory House, and former Iowa State safety commitment Brayden Thomas.
During their visits, the four new commits spent time with fellow Michigan State 2026 commitment Eddie Whiting, a tight end from Sioux Falls (S.D.) Jefferson High School who also took his official visit that weekend. 2026 quarterback Kayd Coffman, of East Kentwood (Mich.) High School, and offensive lineman Eli Bickel, of North Branch (Mich.) High School, both took unofficial visits to campus that Saturday.
Michigan State also received a pair of commitments from the June 6 official visit weekend in Frisco (TX) Lone Star High School defensive tackle Christopher Knauls Jr., along with Jacksonville (FL) Impact Christian High School safety Eliyjah Caldwell-Hardy.
Mansfield (Ohio) Lexington High School tight end Joey Caudill joins the previously listed nine members of the Spartans’ 2026 class. Caudill will take an official visit to East Lansing on June 13.
