Michigan State listed the following players as “out” for Saturday’s game against Iowa: safety Nikai Martinez, quarterback Aidan Chiles, cornerback Chance Rucker, running back Makhi Frazier, defensive tackle Ben Roberts, tackle Stanton Ramil, tight end Jayden Savoury, tight end Brennan Parachek, kicker Tarik Ahmetbasic, long snapper Kaden Schickel, linebacker Marcellius Pulliam, guard Kristian Phillips, defensive back Ade Willie.

The following players will miss the remainder of the year due to injury: rush end Anelu Lafaele, linebacker Brady Pretzlaff, offensive guard Luka Vincic, tackle Ashton Lepo, cornerback Andrew Brinson and defensive back Caleb Gash

Michigan State listed zero players as “questionable.”

Frazier is the only new addition to this week’s list. The sophomore will miss his second game of the year after not playing against Minnesota two weeks ago. Frazier carried the ball eight times for 27 yards in his return against Penn State.

Frazier’s absence means Elijah Tau-Tolliver and Brandon Tullis will continue to carry the load at running back for Michigan State. Tau-Tolliver has come on strong late in the year. He scored a 57-yard touchdown on the first play of the game against Penn State.

Michigan State removed wide receiver Alante Brown from the injury report. The sixth-year senior has not played since week two against Boston College, when he flashed as a dynamic return man for the Spartans.

Chiles’ absence means Alessio Milivojevic will likely be the only Michigan State quarterback to appear in Saturday’s game. Spartan coaches hinted at the possibility of playing both Chiles and Milivojevic, but Chiles is not healthy enough for that plan to come to fruition.

True freshman Leo Hannan will serve as the back-up with Chiles unavailable.

Martinez will miss his second straight game, meaning Armorion Smith is likely to start in his place alongside Malik Spencer. Devynn Cromwell is also a candidate to see time at safety. Josh Eaton, Malcolm Bell and Aydan West will continue to receive a bulk of the snaps at cornerback with Rucker out.

Ramil will miss his sixth game in eight weeks after sustaining an injury in the first half against Michigan. Conner Moore and Rustin Young are candidates to feature at tackle with Ramil and Lepo unavailable.
