Michigan State signs 2025 three-star Murrieta Valley (Calif.) OL Drew Nichols

Michigan State signed 2025 three-star Murrieta Valley (Calif.) offensive lineman Drew Nichols on Wednesday.
Nichols (6-5, 280) received his Spartan offer in March. He took an official visit to Michigan State on the weekend of June 7 and committed shortly thereafter. Nichols also visited SMU prior to his commitment. He canceled visits to UCLA and Boise State after choosing the Spartans.
Nichols also received offers from Miami, Arkansas, Minnesota, Arizona and California, among others.
Although he grew up in California, Nichols’ mother lived in the state of Michigan for much of her life. A few of her brothers attended Michigan State.

Nichols is the No. 1,005 prospect, No. 79 interior offensive lineman and No. 73 player from California in the 2025 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings.
Nichols and 2025 three-star Macomb (Mich.) Dakota prospect Justin Bell make up the Spartans’ 2025 offensive line class. Bell also signed with the Spartans on Wednesday.
Scouting summary
Michigan State offensive line coach Jim Michalczik recruited Nichols as an interior offensive lineman. Nichols has good athleticism for a player of his size. He recovers well and possesses a high football IQ. His projects as a good fit in Michalczik’s scheme due to his physicality and quickness.
