Michigan State signed 2026 Rivals four-star tight end Joey Caudill, of Lexington (Ohio) High School, on Wednesday.

Caudill (6-5, 215) has been committed to Michigan State since January, when he became the first player to join the Spartans’ 2026 class. He stuck with his Spartan pledge amid a strong senior season in which he earned interest from multiple Power Four programs.

At the time of his commitment, the Spartans were Caudill’s lone Power Four offer.

Caudill is the No. 235 recruit, No. 13 tight end and No. 13 player from Ohio in the 2026 class, per the Rivals Rankings. He plans to early enroll at Michigan State, which means he’ll join the program at the end of the month.

Caudill is one of two tight end prospects expected to sign with Michigan State on Wednesday, joining three-star South Dakota tight end Eddie Whiting.

SCOUTING REPORT

Caudill helped lead Lexington High School to a 9-2 record and a playoff berth this season. He lined up all over the field, but mainly played quarterback and linebacker. Caudill and Lexington lost to Toledo (Ohio) Catholic Central in the playoffs, ending a record-breaking senior season for the Michigan State commit.

Caudill is a versatile playmaker that has proved to be electric with the ball in his hands. He’ll come in a bit raw at the tight end position, but he’s certainly a high-upside prospect.

Caudill threw for 1,730 yards and 25 touchdowns this fall. He also rushed for 671 yards and eight touchdowns. Caudill logged 2,412 all-purpose yards as a senior. On defense, he tallied 59.5 tackles (13 for a loss), two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and two interceptions.
