Michigan State signs 2026 three-star Freeland (Mich.) OL Tristan Comer

Michigan State signed 2026 three-star Freeland (Mich.) offensive tackle Tristan Comer on Wednesday.

Comer (6-6, 260) committed to Michigan State on June 16, following an official visit to East Lansing. Michigan State offensive line coach Jim Michalczik and assistant Jacob Lail offered Comer a week prior to the visit.

Comer is the No. 1,039 recruit, No. 78 offensive tackle and No. 19 player from Michigan in the 2026 class, per the Rivals Industry Rankings. He took other official visits to Northwestern, Oregon State and West Virginia.

Comer and fellow Michigan native offensive lineman Eli Bickel will both sign with Michigan State on Wednesday. Four-star offensive lineman Collin Campbell remains committed to the Spartans, but will likely sign in February.

SCOUTING REPORT

Comer is a long, lengthy offensive line prospect that possesses high-level athleticism for his size. He played left tackle and defensive end over the past two years, but began his career at tight end.

Comer logged 108 pancake blocks this season while anchoring the Freeland offensive line. Freeland’s offense averaged 341.8 yards per game in 10 games this year. Comer also led the Freeland defense with 61 tackles (13 for a loss) and four sacks. He returned a fumble for a touchdown, too.

Comer finished his high school career with 161 tackles (27 for a loss) and 12 sacks. He also caught 12 passes for 217 yards and one touchdown as a tight end.

Comer excels on the basketball court with his quick feet and smooth athleticism. Last season, he averaged 15.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 2.7 blocks and 1.6 steals per game.
