Michigan State signs 2026 three-star Hillsdale (N.J.) Pascack Valley LB Adam Shaw

Michigan State signed 2026 linebacker Adam Shaw, of Hillsdale (N.J.) Pascack Valley High School, on Wednesday.

Shaw (6-3, 205) has been committed to Michigan State since mid-June after flipping from Rutgers. He held additional offers from Pittsburgh and Temple, among others.

Shaw is a legacy recruit, as he’s the son of former Spartan offensive lineman Scott Shaw. His mother also attended Michigan State.

“You don’t understand how happy my family was to have Michigan State extend an offer,” Shaw had previously told SpartanMag. “I was extremely happy as well. I’ve loved Michigan State since I was young. I grew up with it, with two parents who went there. It was an extreme blessing to have, and my family is all very excited for me.”

Shaw is the No. 992 recruit in the 2026 class, per the Rivals Industry Rankings. He’s also the No. 89 linebacker and No. 21 player from New Jersey in his class.

Shaw is the lone linebacker expected to sign to Michigan State in the early signing period. It remains to be seen if new head coach Pat Fitzgerald and his staff will look to add to the position during the late signing period.

SCOUTING REPORT

Shaw missed the majority of his senior season due to injury. In a Swiss Army knife role for Pascack Valley in 2024, Shaw threw for 1,341 yards and 13 touchdowns and rushed for 1,021 yards and 15 touchdowns. He began his recruitment as a quarterback, but eventually transitioned to linebacker. He’s still raw at the linebacker position, but he’s an athletic prospect with good speed and change of direction.
