Michigan State signs 2026 three-star Wheaton (Ill.) St. Francis WR Zachary Washington
Michigan State signed 2026 three-star wide receiver Zachary Washington, of Wheaton (Ill.) St. Francis High School, on Wednesday.
Washington (6-2, 175) has been committed to the Spartans since mid-June. He committed to Michigan State after an official visit to campus.
Washington was welcomed to East Lansing by a familiar face: redshirt freshman quarterback Alessio Milivojevic. Milivojevic, a member of Michigan State’s 2023 recruiting class, is a St. Francis alum. Milivojevic’s father, Ivan, and Washington’s father, Dean, are assistant football coaches at the school.
Additionally, Washington plays alongside Alessio’s younger brother, Dario – a 2026 wide receiver prospect – at St. Francis.
Washington chose Michigan State finalists Wisconsin and West Virginia. He held additional offers from Ole Miss, Miami, Missouri and Minnesota, among others.

Wisconsin made a late push for Washington once he re-opened his recruitment upon the firing of Jonathan Smith. Washington chose to stick with his pledge after the hiring of Pat Fitzgerald.
Washington is the No. 785 recruit in the 2026 class, per the Rivals Industry Rankings. He’s also the No. 119 wide receiver and No. 20 player from Illinois in his class.
SCOUTING REPORT
Washington is known for his speed. He has the ability to take the top off a defense and go up and grab 50-50 balls. He continues to polish his route running skills while bulking up, with the goal of being able to block effectively at the college level.
St. Francis won the IHSA Class 5A state championship on Tuesday, defeating New Lenox (Ill.) Providence Catholic, 39-35. Washington caught 47 passes for 896 yards and six touchdowns on the season. He was also a difference-maker on special teams and defense for the state champions.
