Michigan flips priority LB Aden Reeder from Wisconsin

Michigan received a key commitment from three-star linebacker Aden Reeder Thursday morning. The Wolverines needed to add at least one more linebacker to this class, and they flipped the former Wisconsin commit after hosting him on an official visit over the weekend.
Reeder is the No. 33 linebacker in the country according to Rivals and a three-star prospect with an ’89’ rating. He ranks No. 22 in the state of Ohio out of Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier High. Michigan offered him Oct. 21, quickly locked in an official visit and then secured the flip.
He went into the visit solid with Wisconsin, trying to gather more information as he prepared to sign with a program this cycle. There were good vibes around his recruitment going into the visit, but they really picked up in the days following Michigan’s win over Purdue. This was Reeder’s first known trip to Ann Arbor.
Kentucky and Northwestern also entered the mix this fall, but Michigan looked like the team to beat almost as soon as it offered. Nebraska, Indiana and Michigan State also offered the 6-3, 210-pound senior. Reeder confirmed that Wisconsin and U-M were the only teams in consideration going into that visit, and he had no other trips planned. The three-star linebacker pledge outlined what he wanted to see from his time in Ann Arbor.
“Seeing the culture that the team has as a whole and also seeing how the coaches coach and the environment they bring to their players,” Reeder told The Wolverine.

The Wolverine submitted an RPM pick for him to eventually flip to U-M Monday afternoon. Linebackers coach Brian-Jean Mary was his primary recruiter.
Over the first 8 games of his senior season, Reeder recorded 47 total tackles (29 solo) and 9 stops for loss. He also logged 6 sacks and 2 passes defended. St. Xavier is the No. 8 high school football program in Ohio and the No. 134 program in the country with a 7-2 record this year.
Three-star senior Markel Dabney is the only other linebacker pledge in Michigan’s class to date. The Wolverines rank No. 10 nationally in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings with 23 commits and one month to go until signing day. Michigan remains in the mix for other flip targets as well, including Rivals300 Iowa pledge Kasen Thomas and three-star Pittsburgh commit Marcus Jennings, who visited the Wolverines earlier this week.
