Michigan Wolverines captain and edge rusher Derrick Moore has declared for the 2026 NFL Draft, he announced Saturday. He was out of eligibility after this season, but has played his last game in a U-M uniform.

Moore, who is No. 77 on Pro Football Focus’ Big Board for next spring’s draft class, led Michigan in sacks this season with 10, and had 21 in 4 seasons with the Wolverines. He was the No. 37 recruit in the class, hailing from the state of Maryland.

Moore revealed the news on social media, along with a statement on his time at Michigan:

“First, I would like to thank God for watching over me and blessing me throughout my journey. I would also like to thank my family, friends, and mentors for their unbelievable support throughout my career.

“Over the past four years, l am truly honored to say that I am a two-time Big Ten Champion, Rose Bowl Champion, National Champion, team captain, and a two-time All-Big Ten selection, while also earning the opportunity to graduate from the University of Michigan.

“I would like to thank Coach Harbaugh and Coach Moore for giving me this opportunity and showing me what it truly means to be a Michigan Man. I would also like to thank the coaching staff, trainers, and staff members who helped me grow into the person I am today.

“I would also like to thank my teammates and the brotherhood that we have built over the past four years. We’ve been through a lot of ups and downs together, but through every battle, we created lifelong lasting bonds that can never be broken.

“With that being said, l am excited to announce that I have declared for the 2026 NFL Draft.”

Michigan is back in action on Dec. 31 in the Citrus Bowl against Texas, set for 3 p.m. ET on ABC. The team will be led by interim head coach Biff Poggi after Sherrone Moore’s firing on Dec. 10.
