Eight Michigan football players named preseason All-Big Ten by Lindy's

Michigan Wolverines football has eight preseason All-Big Ten selections in Lindy’s college football preview magazine, led by two first-team picks in senior kicker Dominic Zvada and senior linebacker Jaishawn Barham. Here’s a look at the Michigan players who appeared on Lindy’s list:
First team: Senior K Dominic Zvada, senior LB Jaishawn Barham
Second team: Junior RB Justice Haynes, graduate DT Rayshaun Benny, graduate EDGE TJ Guy, senior LB Ernest Hausmann, graduate S Rod Moore
Third team: Junior CB Jyaire Hill
Zvada transferred in from Arkansas State last season and continued his incredible college career, earning first-team All-Big Ten honors and the conference’s Kicker of the Year award. He made 21 of his 22 field goal attempts and set program records for both a season and career with 7 makes of 50-plus yards. After doing so in the bowl game against Alabama, Zvada may add kickoff duties to his plate in 2025.
The 2024 season was also Barham’s first at Michigan. While the 6-foot-3, 248-pounder got off to a slow start, he ended the year with 66 tackles, including 3.5 for loss and 1 sack, to go along with 5 quarterback hurries and 2 pass breakups.
An Alabama transfer, Haynes ranked first on the Crimson Tide and sixth in the SEC with 5.7 yards per carry last season. He rushed 79 times for 448 yards and 7 touchdowns. He’s expected to split carries with sophomore Jordan Marshall, who rushed for 100 yards in Michigan’s bowl game victory over Haynes’ former team.
The 6-foot-4, 296-pound Benny is perhaps the biggest star remaining on a Michigan defensive line that lost three starters to the NFL, all top-100 selections. Benny played in 11 games last season, coming off a leg injury suffered the prior postseason, and tallied 29 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, 2 pass breakups and 4 quarterback hurries.

Guy has started only three career games, but he’s appeared in 36, including 30 on defense, and had a major impact last season. Guy is the team’s returning leader with 5.5 sacks, and he added 32 tackles, 7 stops for loss and 6 quarterback hurries.
The 6-foot-2, 235-pound Hausmann was Michigan’s main man in the middle of the defense last season, leading the team with 89 tackles, adding 7 for loss, 2 sacks, 1 interception, 1 pass breakup and 2 quarterback hurries. Hausmann has taken a step up into even more of a leadership role heading into this season, which will be his third with the program after spending one year at Nebraska. Hausmann earned honorable mention All-Big Ten recognition by both the coaches and media last season.
Rod Moore is the only Michigan player on defense that has been an All-Big Ten pick in the past, standing third team by the coaches in 2023. Moore has appeared in 37 games with 27 starts and tallied 141 tackles, 2.5 TFL, 6 interceptions and 13 pass breakups. He missed last season with a torn ACL, had two surgeries and posted in May a video of him running on ground for the first time in 14 months.
Hill is a breakout candidate for Michigan at cornerback. While he opened nine contests a season ago, his playing time waned as the year went on and, due to a late-year number change fro 20 to 35, was seemingly disciplined (though head coach Sherrone Moore said his situation was being handled “internally”). Hill showed a lot of flashes, making 35 tackles with 5.5 for loss and 1 sack, 9 pass breakups and 1 interception, but also some room to grow.
