Michigan football injuries: Sherrone Moore on Jordan Marshall, Max Bredeson, Ernest Hausmann's surprise absence, more

Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore was extremely pleased with his team’s 45-20 win at Maryland, as he should have been. The Wolverines looked outstanding on offense, not punting or turning the ball over once in victory, and they played well on defense for much of the game despite missing starters on both sides of the ball.
Second-year running back Jordan Marshall dressed and could have played Saturday, but Bryson Kuzdzal filled in admirably and ran for 100 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries. Marshall told us after the game he would play against the Buckeyes, and Moore essentially confirmed it.
“Jordan could have gone if we needed him to, and I talked to him right after this,” he said. “I was like, ‘I guess you’re not going to play next week,’ and he just laughed at me. He said, ‘is that really a question?
“No, he could have gone [through shoulder and wrist injuries].”
Michigan fullback Max Bredeson, meanwhile, left in the first half with a lower leg injury and returned to the sidelines in a boot and street clothes.
“Yeah, Max was on crutches,” Moore said. “We’ll get further evaluation when we get home and see what happens.”
Without speculating too much, this one didn’t look great. Jalen Hoffman got more run, though, and seemed to play well as a blocker.
Linebacker Ernest Hausmann was a surprise scratch along with receiver Semaj Morgan. Neither was banged up, per reports, but they stayed home in a surprising twist.

“They’re just working through some things, so, not long term things,” Moore said. Asked if they’d return next week, Moore added, “we’ll see as we go through the week.”
Michigan linebacker Cole Sullivan returned from an upper body injury and started, playing for the first time in weeks.
“Cole’s such a good player,” Moore said. “He’s such a great player, and he’s a young player, but he doesn’t play like that. It’s great to be in the position to have all these guys, but we don’t really have starters and not like backups. They’re all starters.”
Finally, safety Rod Moore, offensive lineman Evan Link, running back Justice Haynes, wide receiver and special teams maven Joe Taylor, and tight end Hogan Hansen all missed the game. Moore and Hansen have been out for weeks, but there’s speculation they could return for Ohio State and still potentially redshirt. Tight ends coach Steve Casula said last week about Hansen that it was a conversation they’d keep in house.
Link would likely sit behind Blake Frazier, who has emerged at left tackle, and the Wolverines could use Taylor on special teams against the Buckeyes.
