Michigan sophomore defensive tackle Mason Graham put together an outstanding performance, returning after missing the last two games with a left hand injury. He played with a club on, hindering his ability, but still shined with a team-high. 6 tackles, including 2 for loss and 1 sack.

I think he really missed it. Being out there and club, no club … he’s a great football player. He had a great game tonight. Really dominant. Just about anybody you bring out, I’m going to say the same thing. So many people played. Young guys played, and they’re starting to come into their own. It’s really good to see.

“He’s one of the really great players, right? [Senior] Kris Jenkins is a great player,” the Michigan head coach said. “The block destruction, the way he plays … [sophomore] Kenneth Grant is a great player. So is Mason Graham. Now you’ve got three great players, and [graduate] Cam Goode is really coming on, too. And [junior] Rayshaun Benny. It’s great. The way they play, rotate in, play together. It just makes the whole unit, that interior defensive line play better. They’re all really good.

“[Freshman] Cam Brandt had a really good game, if you noticed. [Freshman] Trey Pierce did a lot of good things. Nice to see those two young guys get in there and play so well. And [Michigan defensive line coach] Mike Elston does a great job, tremendous job coaching the technique. The things he’s brought, we just keep getting better and better on the defensive front with his coaching.”

Michigan started the game with a pick six from sophomore cornerback Will Johnson. Harbaugh hopped in the photo that his defense takes after notching takeaways.

“I just came over to congratulate Will, and then they just kind of threw me in the picture, so it was great to be in the picture,” said the Michigan head man. “Can’t start the game better. Loved the pick sixes. Two pick sixes, but it was an RPO, Will really had good eyes. Made the catch, finished it off. So did [sophomore] Keon Sabb. Great play. Tried to throw it over Keon Sabb on the boundary, went up and climbed the ladder, as they say, and caught the ball. Just so great.”
