On3 released its updated recruiting rankings for the 2027 recruiting class on Tuesday afternoon. Several Michigan targets moved up and down.

The highest ranked prospect on the board is Chesterfield (Va.) Bird EDGE Chris Whitehead, who dropped three spots from No. 6 to No. 9 overall. Whitehead made his first visit to Michigan this spring and notched an offer on the spot.

Whitehead is looking to return to Ann Arbor this summer. Along with Michigan, Whitehead is strongly considering Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, South Carolina and a handful of others.

Michigan is squarely in the mix with two other Top 30 recruits in elite wide receivers Monshun Sales, who moved up five spots from No. 28 to No. 23, and Dakota Guerrant, who dropped six spots from No. 21 to No. 27.

Sales of Indianapolis (Ind.) Lawrence North and Guerrant of Harper Woods (Mich.) High both visited Michigan on multiple occasions this spring.

The state of Michigan will be key to U-M’s recruiting success next cycle. However, the On3 update wasn’t very kind to in-state prospects. Every local recruit, including the aforementioned Guerrant, fell in the rankings.

Muskegon (Mich.) High EDGE Recarder Kitchen dropped 48 spots from No. 56 to No. 104, Detroit (Mich.) Country Day tight end Anthony Cartwright dropped 16 spots from No. 173 to No. 189, Detroit (Mich.) King offensive lineman Jameer Henry dropped 14 spots from No. 251 to No. 265, Detroit (Mich.) Catholic Central safety Gideon Gash dropped 38 spots from No 230 to No. 268 and Dexter (Mich.) High tight end Holden Niemi fell out of the On300 entirely.

New Michigan offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey is casting a wide net for quarterbacks next cycle.

The highest ranked signal-caller on the board is Palastine (Texas) Westwood’s Kavian Bryant, who dropped 16 spots from No. 26 to No. 42. Bryant made his first visit to Michigan this spring and is looking to return to Ann Arbor in the near future.

Flower Mound (Texas) Marcus quarterback Colton Nussmeier was one of On3’s biggest risers in this update, moving up 47 spots from No. 111 to No. 64. Nussmeier is the son of former Michigan offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier. However, he has yet to visit.

Other notable quarterback rankings: Marion (Mass.) Tabor Academy’s Peter Borque dropped 61 spots from No. 49 to No. 110, Cheshire (Conn.) Academy’s Keegan Croucher fell 15 spots from No. 107 to No. 122, Baton Rouge (La.) Dunham’s Elijah Haven dropped four spots from No. 120 to No. 124, Shreveport (La.) Evangel Christian’s Peyton Houston remained at No. 157 and Benton (La.) High’s Malachi Zeigler dropped 24 spots from No. 214 to No. 238.

The biggest overall riser on Michigan’s board is Haymarket (Va.) Battlefield linebacker Noah Glover, who jumped up from unranked to the No. 145. U-M recently offered and is looking to get him on campus soon.

Michigan has no early commits in its 2027 recruiting class.
