Michigan basketball’s numbers game started to sort itself out earlier this year with guard Zeb Jackson entering the transfer portal. Now, the former Wolverine combo man has a new destination selected for the next step.

Jackson announced on Saturday that he would be transferring to VCU. Jackson has three seasons of eligbility remaining at the collegiate level.

“I chose VCU because I’ve been able to create a good relationship with the coaches and some of the players and I feel it’s a good fit all around on and off the court,” Jackson told Joe Tipton of On3 Sports. “I also know the energy that surrounds VCU basketball is amazing and I’m excited to be a Ram!”

According to the On3 Consensus Rankings for the 2020 cycle, Jackson was the No. 61 overall prospect in America and a four-star recruit. He played a little less than two seasons at Michigan and averaged 1.5 points per game in 20 contests for the Wolverines.

The Wolverines have their own guard ranks to sort out. Both Eli Brooks and DeVante’ Jones depart via graduation thie year. This leaves sophomore Frankie Collins and true freshman Dug McDaniel as the only point guards on the roster. Michigan projects to be active in the transfer portal again as roster attrition sorts itself out.

Michigan quote of the day

“If there’s one dude who’s in the film room with me every single time, it’s Davis [Warren]. He was with me during every game week, last season. I had a prior relationship with him before he came to Michigan. But I think he’s very smart. It’s been three years, and I think he played well today. I’m proud of him. That’s my guy. I look forward to what he can do.”
