On this week’s Monday night live show, TheWolverine.com‘s Clayton Sayfie and Chris Balas answered over a dozen questions from Michigan Wolverines fans, including on football, basketball and NIL. We covered the following topics:

• The latest with Michigan’s ‘M Power’ NIL efforts, following a meeting with donors in Ann Arbor in which Warde Manuel attended

Balas provided an update on ‘M Power’ following the Ann Arbor meeting, but we discussed some of the momentum it has created on the football side. Conversely, the basketball program appears to be lacking with NIL, evidenced by some misses while recruiting transfers this offseason. Michigan is under plenty of pressure to win on the hardwood next season, but with NIL not up to par, it makes an uphill climb even steeper.

• Our predictions on who will win the Big Ten this fall

In his annual preview magazine, college football expert Phil Steele predicted that Michigan and Ohio State will tie atop the Big Ten East, with the Wolverines winning the tiebreaker and ultimately the conference. A fan asked Balas and Sayfie who they have winning the Big Ten. Both said they could see a tie in the division, but both picked Michigan to win the league for a third straight season.

• If junior running back Donovan Edwards will get more carries this season

Edwards proved himself at the end of last season, even playing with one good hand and essentially one good knee. Now, he and senior Blake Corum are both set to be healthy at the same time. Corum will be the bell cow, but Edwards should be improved, too, under run game coordinator and position coach Mike Hart. He’ll be used as both a receiver and ball-carrier.

• Who will start at cornerback

Michigan has a plethora of options at its starting cornerback spot opposite sophomore Will Johnson. Sayfie and Balas disagree on who will begin the season as the starter, with the two being split on UMass transfer Josh Wallace.
