Michigan hockey forward Frank Nazar III was named the Big Ten’s first star of the week. He led the conference in scoring with 5 point in two games, with the Wolverines splitting the weekend series against Wisconsin. He scored 3 goals, one of which was the Friday night game-winner, and added 2 assists while going 54.3 percent from the faceoff dot.

The Wolverine’s EJ Holland has placed a prediction for Michigan to fall short and lose out on five-star wide receiver Gatlin Bair, projecting him to choose Oregon. Bair is a 2024 recruit but will take a two-year mission and join his future school in 2026.

Two Michigan assistants — wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy and co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach Steve Clinkscale — are hitting the recruiting trail hard.

Michigan wide receiver Roman Wilson was one of the top standouts of the first day of Senior Bowl practices in Mobile, Ala.

“Roman Wilson from Michigan can absolutely fly,” NFL Network’s Andrew Siciliano said at the beginning of practice, setting the tone for much of the conversation surrounding Wilson throughout the rest of the day.

“One of my favorite things from these practices is that my phone always blows up from buddies with [NFL] teams that are here,” analyst Daniel Jeremiah said after practice. “I just got a text that said, ‘I feel pretty good about my Roman Wilson grade.’”

Jeremiah added that he believes the over/under for a 40-yard dash time for Wilson at the combine should be set at 4.33 seconds.

“He might go south of that,” Jeremiah said. “He can fly. Fly!”

Senior Bowl Director Jim Nagy told NFL Network earlier in the day that his comparison for Wilson is Seattle Seahawks wideout Tyler Lockett. Jeremiah said he agrees with the comparison but added that Wilson is “faster,” but “maybe not quite as polished.”

Ohio State fans tried to make sport of Wilson heading into the Senior Bowl, but a Michigan fan dropped a reminder of what happened in November.

The Athletic‘s Bruce Feldman believes that Wilson will test well at the combine based on the numbers he provided from last year’s ‘Freaks List.’

Quote Of The Day

“Will the Vikes re-sign Kirk Cousins, 35? Even if they do, wouldn’t it be wise to take a page from the division rival Pack’s playbook and get his successor into the building? McCarthy won big in college (27-1 record) while developing into an accurate passer who rarely made bad decisions, all traits that will make NFL evaluators take notice. Yet the 21-year-old, who was greatly assisted by the Wolverines’ defense and run game, could certainly benefit from apprenticing behind a pro like Cousins.“
