Tracking commitment timelines of top Michigan targets

Michigan had a good start to July, landing two commitments from St. Louis (Mo.) Cardinal Ritter wide receiver Fredrick Moore and Warminster (Penn.) Archbishop Wood linebacker Semaj Bridgeman. But there are more to come.

There are numerous targets who *could* commit but have provided no timelines to do so as of this time.

Here is a list of Michigan targets who have provided expected commitment times and dates (this list will be updated as information comes available):

Amir Herring – July 7 (7 p.m.)

One of the top prospects in the state of Michigan, Amir Herring is an important land. Not only for the in-state aspects but because the offensive line recruiting could use a bump right now and Herring, a consensus four-star would do good for that. Michigan holds a commanding lead in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine at 71.9%. Nebraska is second with 23.4%.

Enow Etta – Any moment

Etta is one Mike Elston’s top targets at the EDGE position in this cycle. He visited both Michigan and Michigan State this summer and is still considering Alabama and Stanford. As recently tweeted, Etta will announce a commit sometime in July. Both EJ and I have logged predictions for Michigan to land Etta.

Aaron Gates – Flip Watch?

EJ has covered the topic numerous times in recent weeks, including his own flip prediction for Gates from Florida to Michigan. EJ’s intel says there is just communication to go through in Gates’ family prior to a final decision. As of now, there is no set timeline for a Gates decision, if he were to even make one. All that is known is that a flip is possible at any time moving forward.

Paul Mubenga – July (“soon”)

Mubenga is one of the top priority targets for Michigan in the interior offensive line this cycle. Michigan was his first official on June 10. Michigan hit a home run and impressed Mubenga during the visit. He is currently wrapping up a visit at Texas A&M and will make his way to LSU next weekend. Mubenga told me he is planning to commit in July, although he does not have an exact date set at this time. I have logged an On3 prediction in favor of Michigan.

John Walker – July 28

Walker had a busy month of June officially visiting UCF, Michigan, Miami, and Ohio State. One week after that visit is when he is scheduled to commit. Michigan impressed on the visit, and is feeling good about landing him. Walker moved up an initial date of October 22 to July, so this could bode well for Michigan.

My’Keil Gardner – July

Another top prospect recently coming off of his official visit in Ann Arbor, Gardner has taken all five official visits to California, Wisconsin, Texas, Michigan and Oregon . Michigan was not always in the running, but made a quick rise in this recruitment and now might be in the position to win it. Gardner has said he is planning for a July commitment, but again, there is no set date.

Makari Vickers – August or September

Vickers actual plan was “early fall” so August or September sounds like a logical guess here. Oklahoma was the first visit for Vickers, a Top 100 safety. Michigan and Alabama came later in June. Vickers had good things to say about Michigan on his visit and put themselves in a position to land him.
