Michigan picked up a commitment from 2027 Rivals300 Muskegon (Mich.) High EDGE Recarder Kitchen on Sunday afternoon.

The Wolverine’s EJ Holland shares his thoughts on the recruiting win in the video above.

Kitchen Recruitment

Michigan offered Kitchen early in the process and immediately made him a top priority. The Wolverines began to trend on the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine late last year.

U-M built even more momentum earlier this fall when it got him on campus for a game day visit. Kitchen returned to Ann Arbor this weekend for The Game, and the Wolverines were able to win him over on the spot.

Here is what Holland had to say about Kitchen.

“I really like the Kitchen land,” Holland said. “At one point, he was a Top 10 recruit in the country. He’s dropped a bit since then but is still a Top 150 recruit. That’s where I like him. He can bulk up and play with his hand in the dirt, but I really like him as a bigger EDGE in the same mold as a Mike Morris or even Julian Walker from this cycle. He’s a really nice early win for the Wolverines.”

At 6-foot-5, 240 pounds, Kitchen is ranked as the No. 19 EDGE and No. 126 overall recruit nationally, per the Rivals Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect in the state of Michigan for next cycle.

Michigan has three commits in its 2027 recruiting class — Top 100 Marion (Mass.) Tabor Academy quarterback Peter Bourque, three-star Southlake (Texas) Carroll offensive lineman Tristan Dare and three-star Saline (Mich.) High offensive lineman Louis Esposito.
