How Duke Scott ended up at NC State

Scott visited NC State unofficially for a spring visit very soon after picking up an offer from the program. The Pack coaching staff, led by running backs coach Todd Goebbel, prioritized him immediately, and that made a significant impact. He returned for a another visit during the spring. The running back also checked out Wake Forest, Rutgers, Stanford and California before committing to the Pack April 19. Scott never wavered on his commitment.

Why Duke Scott picked NC State

Scott shared his recruiting pitch with TheWolfpacker.com

“You’re going to get a great staff, a very competitive football experience, a team ready to compete for, not only a conference title, but also a national title,” Scott said.

“Come get good football, good academics with great people.”

Coach’s scouting report

“What makes him special, obviously, is his ability to make plays on the field, his cut, his vision, his strength, his speed, all of it kind of combined, makes him a great player,” Stockbridge High head coach Thomas Clark said. “The pleasure of coaching him is the fact that he is such a great kid, but then, when Friday night hits, he goes out their on the field, and he’s a difference maker…

“Having him on the field, you never know when he’s going to bust it and make a play. A lot of times, he’ll make something out of nothing.”
