It will not be a long trip to NC State when it is time for Isiah Jones to arrive in Raleigh. The three-star running back will have the one of the shortest commutes for move-in as a Rolesville High standout.

His recruitment to NC State was quick, but it was an easy decision for the running back to pick the Wolfpack. He committed less than a week after he received an offer from NC State in June, and he made that official by signing his national letter of intent on Wednesday.

Jones, who held a diverse selection of offers, chose to run with the Pack and will provide depth to NC State’s running back room this fall.

Position: Running back
School: Rolesville (N.C.) High
Height/Weight: 5-10, 180
Other offers: Bethune-Cookman, Boston College, Columbia, Morgan State, Navy, North Carolina Central, Richmond
Senior year stats: In 4 games with reported statistics: 11 carries for 44 yards, TD; 2 receptions, -5 yards

How Jones ended up at NC State

As Jones went through the recruitment process, he did not see a reason to leave Raleigh. He picked up an offer from NC State on June 9 and he visited four days later. It was on his official visit that he decided to commit to the Wolfpack.

Though Jones only had an offer from NC State for less than a week before committing, he had visited campus for camps and game days since his freshman year of high school.

Jones will unite with redshirt junior running back Demarcus Jones II, who is his cousin, and played a significant role in his recruitment to NC State.

Why Jones picked NC State

“I feel like I can compete at a high level there, and it’s close to home and me and my family love it,” Jones said. “The atmosphere at NC State, from the coaches, to the players, to the staff, it’s everybody coming together, being a family and that’s what I love about it.”

Coach’s scouting report

“Isiah is one of the best backs I have ever coached, and I’m not just saying that because I coach him now,” Rolesville coach Ranier Rackley said. “I always had high regard for Isiah, even when he was coming out of middle school. I said, ‘Look, man, if this kid stays healthy, and he continues to grow, he will be the best back in the state.”
