Jivan Baly’s offer list was longer than most people’s grocery needs with 30 Division I programs interested in his abilities, including ACC powers Florida State and Miami.

While Baly had a star-studded list to choose from, NC State stayed consistent with its interest in the defensive back, and it paid off. Baly committed to the Pack in June, and he finished his recruitment by signing with NC State on Wednesday, college football’s early national signing day.

How Baly ended up at NC State

Though Baly could have gone to seemingly any college football program that he wanted to, his decision came down to more than just the product on the football field. He was also interested in the surrounding area, as well as the education opportunities presented.

NC State checked each box for the No. 90 cornerback in the country and Baly was able to see that on his four trips to Raleigh during his recruitment. He committed to the Pack in late-June before he signed with the red and white just under six months later.

Why Baly picked NC State

“The Life outside of football in Raleigh (won me over),” Baly told On3. “Raleigh North Carolina really opened my eyes. When I was being taken out with the host we’ve been selected with on the official visit, it just clicked.”

“Life in Raleigh, I really enjoy it,” Baly said. “It’s like a second home to me.”

Coach’s scouting report

“It’s kind of similar to what Kobe Bryant used to do when he used to watch his opponent,” former Meadow Creek coach Bryant Harrison said. “He wanted to know everything about that guy. He wanted to know what makes him strong, what makes him weak, so it’s like he knows what’s going to happen before that guy actually does it.

“And that’s what JB does. JB is always going to make sure he is in the right place at the right time.”
