CLEMMONS — The NCHSAA football playoffs kicked off Friday night, and Clemmons (N.C.) West Forsyth rolled to a 43-7 win over Greensboro (N.C.) Northwest Guilford in 8A action.

The ground game for West Forsyth proved tough to stop, tallying 42 carries for 336 yards and five touchdowns. The Titans have one of the largest, if not the largest, offensive lines in the state of North Carolina.

The game

West Forsyth exploded for 21 points in the third quarter to put the game away and improve to 9-2. The Titans play at Charlotte (N.C.) Mallard Creek next Friday. Senior running back Mozes Morris was credited with 24 carries for 183 yards and two scores, and speedy sophomore running Ja’Mere Shephard had eight carries for 82 yards and two touchdowns.

NC State target

NC State has been recruiting 6-foot, 175-pound junior wide receiver Jailyn Moore for months. He was offered June 12, 2025, and attended the Alpha Wolf event June 22, and then went to the Virginia Tech at NC State game Sept. 27.

Moore has attended games at NC State, Wake Forest, East Carolina and Liberty this fall. Moore has P4 offers from NC State and Wake Forest, plus East Carolina, Liberty and Temple.

Moore played wide receiver and kick returner, but with the ground game working so well, he had limited touches.

Past NC State target

NC State actively tried to get West Forsyth senior Pierre Dean, who goes by P.J. The Wolfpack wanted him on the offensive line, but his recruitment shifted when he switched to defensive end.

Dean is following in his older brother’s footsteps, center Jared Wilson of the New England Patriots, and going to Georgia. Dean played both defensive end and tight end in his new roles.

Potential prospect

NC State didn’t get Dean or Wilson coming out of high school, but might get one more shot in recruiting the family. Freshman interior offensive line Jeremiah Dean is listed at 6-2 and 300 pounds and starts for the Titans.

Notes

West Forsyth senior linebacker Keith Taylor had a productive game at 6-2 and 225 pounds, and also had a big run out of the backfield.

The Titans have two stalwarts on the offensive line with seniors Adrian McCloud and Keith Foster. McCloud is 6-4 and 300 pounds and is committed to Alabama State, and Foster is listed at 6-5 and 305 pounds and has offers from North Carolina Central, North Carolina A&T and Gardner-Webb.

Northwest Guilford senior defensive end Rob Lange attended NC State’s camp last June, and has a litany of offers at various levels. He was active and racked up the tackles.

Sophomore cornerback DaMarco Boyles will likely get some camp looks this offseason. He brings good size to the secondary at 6-3 and 195 pounds and showed his speed in preventing a West Forsyth touchdown run.

Coming up

The Wolfpacker will have a story on Moore and various scouting videos, which will be found here.
