Elite Burlington (NC) Cummings High wide receiver Jonathan Paylor will announce his college commitment from a list of five schools Friday afternoon. The four-star prospect is arguably the NC State’s top priority of the 2024 cycle.

TheWolfpacker.com is on site today to share minute-by-minute updates from the announcement. Paylor’s decision is down to either South Carolina, NC State, Penn State, Maryland or UNC. The Gamecocks and the Wolfpack emerged as the top contenders over the past month.

The Wolfpacker.com has arrived at Cummings High for Jonathan Paylor’s commitment ceremony.

Earlier this week-

Jonathan Paylor shared his thoughts on each of his top five schools.

NC State: “Me and [wide receivers coach Joker Phillips] have always had a father and son relationship… And then, [head coach Dave Doeren] comes to my school every time he gets. There’s not a hesitation. He literally has been to my school more than any head coach that has been recruiting me… that’s always a big sign, to have the big man on campus…”

UNC: “All of the top guys that played at Cummings went to Chapel Hill, so that’s a paved way and then, overall, [wide receivers coach Lonnie Galloway] has a lot of good things going on over there, especially with the three commits that just committed, all top receivers in the nation… Overall, they have great vibes over there, great people, great things.”

South Carolina: “They’ve always been at the top since they offered me. As soon as I got on campus, they treated me and my parents like they were recruits… My parents have always been like ‘South Carolina is going to treat you real, real good if you decide to go, Jon.’ That always plays a big factor with me too. [head coach Shane Beamer], he is a straight-up guy.”

Maryland: “That’s where I felt the most comfortable…When I got down there, [wide receivers coach Gunter Brewer] has always been an OG for me. So, I sat down with coach Brewer, and I ended up talking with him, and it’s like ok, he can show me the ins and outs of what I need to do and how I need to do it because he coached guys just like me and put them in the NFL.”

Penn State: “I went there once. I had to see it for myself, and [head coach James Franklin] knows what he is doing. I can tell you that right now. They have a program going up there, that’s a whole different time of football in the Big 10. I got up there, I sat down with him and talked to him. He’s a true and honest guy.”
