NC State football makes debut in preseason AP Poll

NC State football cracked the first Associated Press Poll of the 2024 season Monday afternoon. The Wolfpack, coming off of a 9-4 campaign last fall with plenty of high expectations for the future, checked in at No. 24 to start this year.
After bringing in around 40 new players between prep, junior college and transfer portal recruiting, NC State has ACC title aspirations for this season and starts the campaign as the fourth-ranked program in the league.
Florida State leads the conference at No. 10, Clemson checks in at No. 14 and Miami also made the poll at No. 19. NC State finished with 171 points in the poll— 1 behind No. 23 USC and 31 ahead of No. 25 Iowa.
The Pack finished the 2023 season ranked No. 21 in the AP poll after not cracking the preseason pollfour months prior. This year, the program holds high expectations internally, and the new poll shows external pressure is real too. In the preseason USA Today Coaches Poll, the Wolfpack started the year ranked No. 22.

NC State brought in a ton of talent offensively to complement ACC Rookie of the Year KC Concepcion this fall. Quarterback Grayson McCall, tight end Justin Joly, running back Jordan Waters and wide receivers Noah Rogers and Wesley Grimes should all help propel the program towards success.
Earlier in fall camp, that side of the ball’s progress encouraged offensive coordinator Robert Anae.
“We’re in a really good spot,” Anae said. “The guys are in great shape, and we’re looking to maintain that through fall camp. There seems to be more pieces to make plays out there. The emphasis is to spread the ball and do that kind of thing this year.”
