Fresh off helping NC State women’s cross country to its third straight national title as she led the way the past two years, the Wolfpack’s No. 1 runner, Katelyn Tuohy announced she will turn pro.

“As I reflect on the past 3 1/2 years of my journey at NC State I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the support, guidance, and encouragement I’ve received,” Tuohy wrote on Instagram. “The experience of being part of this team has been very special, shaping me not only as an athlete but also as an individual. The lessons learned, the friendships formed, and the moments shared will forever hold a special place in my heart.”

Tuohy, a four-time NCAA champion, signed with Adidas, which she already held an NIL deal with after the 2022 national championship run. She will forgo her eligibility for the track season this year.

The Stony Point, N.Y., native is one of the most decorated NC State athletes. In addition to her national championships, Tuohy holds four NCAA records on the track, is a 10-time All-American, nine-time All-ACC performer and was the 20223 ACC Women’s Athlete of the Year.

Tuohy was dominant on the cross country course for the Wolfpack, which included winning every race she ran during the 2022 season. She was equally as impressive on the track and she set a trio of her NCAA records between the 2022-23 indoor and outdoor track seasons.

While she did not win the 2023 NCAA Cross Country individual title, Tuohy, who was reportedly dealing with an illness during the race, finished fifth to lead the team to another championship.
