Ondre Evans will announce his commitment Friday, June 16, at 2 p.m. EST, he announced on Instagram. The four-star cornerback prospect included NC State in his top five last week, joining Georgia, Alabama, Michigan and LSU.
He took a multi-day unofficial trip to Baton Rouge last week, and the Tigers are trending to land the elite defensive back. They lead his Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) at 93.6 percent.
Evans set his Raleigh official visit for June 23 and originally planned to visit Michigan June 16. He has a very strong bond with Wolfpack cornerbacks coach Brian Mitchell and discussed the program in a recent interview with On3’s Chad Simmons.
“NC State has been recruiting me since my sophomore year,” Evans said. “That relationship means a lot. I know the whole staff at NC State, I am comfortable with them and that has had them high on my list for a while. I like all the coaches and the defense coach Tony Gibson runs. Overall, NC State is a really good school.”
On3 considers Evans the 84 recruit in the country, the No. 12 cornerback and the top-ranked prospect in Tennessee.
