Pack Pros: Ikem Ekwonu posts standout performance in pass protection 

It was another full weekend of NFL football, which means NC State’s Pack pros were all in action for their respective teams, which included a standout performance from offensive tackle Ikem Ekwonu. 

Here’s a look at how the Pack Pros did in their games this weekend.

Center Garrett Bradbury (played at NC State from 2015-18), #56 Minnesota Vikings: Bradbury played all 73 offensive snaps in the Vikings’ 27-19 win over the New Orleans Saints. He posted a slightly above average 66.5 offensive score, according to Pro Football Focus. 

Quarterback Jacoby Brissett (2014-15), #12 Washington Commanders: Brissett did not appear in the Commanders’ 29-26 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. 

Outside linebacker Bradley Chubb (2014-17), #2 Miami Dolphins: The Dolphins were on bye this week. 

Punter A.J. Cole III (2015-18), #6 Las Vegas Raiders: Cole logged five punts for 253 yards in the Raiders’ 16-12 win over the New York Jets on Sunday Night Football. He averaged 50.6 yards per attempt and placed three of his kicks inside the 20-yard line. Cole also had a long of 63 yards in the contest. 

Offensive tackle Ikem Ekwonu (2019-21), #79 Carolina Panthers: Ekwonu played all 60 offensive snaps in the Panthers’ 16-13 loss to the Chicago Bears against multiple Pack Pros. He posted the highest PFF score on offense for the Panthers with a 78.4 grade, including a near-elite 89.9 pass blocking mark. 

Punter Trenton Gill (2018-21), #16 Chicago Bears: Gill logged six punts for 280 yards in the Bears’ 16-13 win over the Carolina Panthers on Thursday Night Football. He had three attempts inside the 20-yard line and recorded a 62-yard long. 

Defensive lineman B.J. Hill Jr. (2014-17), #92 Cincinnati Bengals: Hills recorded three tackles, including two solo stops, in the Bengals 30-27 loss to the Houston Texans. He added one quarterback hit in the defeat. 

RB Nyheim Hines (2015-17), #0 Buffalo Bills: Hines is out for the season with an injury suffered over the offseason. 

Safety Tanner Ingle (2018-22), #34 Los Angeles Rams : Ingle is on the Rams’ practice squad.

Defensive tackle Justin Jones (2014-17), #93 Chicago Bears: Jones recorded three tackles, all solo, including a sack in the Bears 16-13 win over the Carolina Panthers against multiple Pack Pros. He added three quarterback hits as he lived in the backfield for Chicago.  

Linebacker Vi Jones (2019-21), Seattle Seahawks: Jones was waived off of injured reserve by the Seahawks following an injury settlement.

Running back Zonovan Knight (2019-21), #28 Detroit Lions: Knight is out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury. He had one catch for eight yards, and three carries for 13 yards in his two appearances with the Lions this season. 

Cornerback Nick McCloud (2016-19, finished at Notre Dame), #44 New York Giants: McCloud recorded three tackles, all solo stops, in the Giants’ 49-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. 

Defensive tackle T.Y. McGill Jr. (2011-14), #96 San Francisco 49ers: McGill did not appear in the 49ers 34-3 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. 

Defensive tackle Alim McNeill (2018-20), #54 Detroit Lions: McNeill logged five tackles, including one solo stop, in the Lions’ 41-38 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. 

Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (2016-18), #16 Las Vegas Raiders: Meyers recorded two catches for 21 yards in the Raiders’ 16-12 win over the New York Jets on Sunday Night Football. He had a long of 13 yards in the contest. Oh, he had a pancake block too.

Defensive tackle Larrell Murchison (2018-19), #52 Los Angeles Rams: The Rams were on bye this week. 

Cornerback Derrek Pitts Jr. (2021-22), #38 Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Pitts did not appear in the Buccaneers’ 20-6 win over the Tennessee Titans. 

Linebacker Germaine Pratt (2014-18), #57 Cincinnati Bengals: Pratt logged a team-high nine tackles, including four tackles, with a tackle for loss in the Bengals’ 30-27 loss to the Houston Texans.

Defensive end James Smith-Williams (2016-19), #96 Washington Commanders: Smith-Williams recorded one solo tackle in the Commanders’ 29-26 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. 

Defensive lineman Kentavius Street (2014-17), #75 Atlanta Falcons: Street logged one tackle, a solo stop, in the Falcons’ 25-23 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. He also added a pass breakup in the defeat. 

Linebacker Drake Thomas (2019-22), #42 Seattle Seahawks: Thomas was placed on the Seahawks’ injured reserve with a knee injury. 

Wide receiver Thayer Thomas (2017-22), #89 Minnesota Vikings: Thomas is on the Vikings’ practice squad.

Offensive guard Joe Thuney (2012-15), #62 Kansas City Chiefs: The Chiefs were on bye this week. 

Wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling (2013-14, Finished at USF), #11 Kansas City Chiefs: The Chiefs were on bye this week. 

Quarterback Russell Wilson (2007-09/Finished at Wisconsin), #3 Denver Broncos: Wilson was 24 of 29 passing for 193 yards and two touchdowns in the Broncos 24-22 win over the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football.  He led the Broncos on a game-winning drive that ended in a walk-off field goal. The quarterback ran for 30 yards on nine carries and was sacked four times. He posted a QBR of 81.0, his highest mark of the 2023 season.
